Hellboy is based on the best-selling Dark Horse Comic about the world's leading paranormal investigator. Created by the highly respected comic strip artist and writer Mike Mignola, he is best known for his work with DC and Marvel Comics. Highlight comics of Mignola's includes Bram Stoker's Dracula, Batman, and The Hulk. Hellboy comics have sold millions throughout America and Europe.
Due to the recent resurgence of comic book heroes and the release of the new X-Men movie, Dark Horse Interactive have been negotiating with top Hollywood production studios about adapting Hellboy into a full length feature film similar to other recently successful comic spin-offs including Blade and Spawn. The movie, which has the working title of Hellboy 2002, is to be directed by Guillermo del Toro, and casts actor Ron Perlman as Hellboy.
Hellboy is a distinctive character with red skin, two broken horns, a pointed tail and a right arm made of the strongest stone, plunged into an exciting world of the sinister and the unknown. Working for the B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense - a top secret X-Files style agency), Hellboy is their finest agent, combating the ever-present forces of evil and the macabre.
The Game
The year is 1962. Two secret agents, Hellboy and Sarah are sent on a mission to Czechoslovakia to find one of their missing agents. The assignment turns into a nightmare when they find themselves locked up in a lunatic asylum where they discover more than they bargained for.
Someone in the asylum is trying to open a gateway that will give passage to the forces of darkness, unleashing unimaginable terror on the world.
Will Hellboy manage to stop this terrible prophecy?
His quest will lead him into the most terrifying of places and force him to defy the laws of time, and you will be there, every step of the way.
As a computer game, Hellboy commands a mysterious and unnerving atmosphere somewhere between Edgar Allan Poe in his most sombre hours and H.P. Lovecraft in his most terrifying moments. Summoned by the Nazi's from some other dimension or world, no one is quite sure where Hellboy is from or what he is. One thing is for certain; Hellboy sleeps better at night not knowing. He is tougher then a normal man, has a mean temper, and is hard as hell to kill. His right hand is made of some unknown metal-like material that cannot feel pain that he uses to beat ass. He also has two stubs on his head where he used to have horns which he now keeps nicely filed down, a tail, and hooves. Amongst all this though, Hellboy tries to blend in with human society and much as possible.
